![]() Jennifer Shanse from UpperStory Films will be sharing her expertise with the technical side. She'll share some editing tips, style advice and how to set up a basic home studio on a budget.
After graduating from UBC’s film program, Jennifer spent a couple years in England in post-production and marketing. She was lucky to attend the Marche at Cannes as part of Continent Film. Her travels took her to Ghana, where she volunteered at local television station Coastal TV directing, shooting and editing documentaries and narratives. Before turning her sights on promotional video, she spent time on the Thai-Burma border where she shot and directed a documentary with New Zealand-based non-profit SpinningTop. Besides her film background, she also has strong roots in small business. While attending university she helped build a retail business, and this is now her second small business. "I know how hard it is, how much work and how many sacrifices it takes to be successful. Video marketing has helped a lot of companies drive sales, raise brand awareness and increase subscribers. I take what I learned in independent film and utilize it for small businesses and non-profits – a unique cinematic style for promotional filmmaking." |
Authenticity on camera is something I've struggled with for a long time. It's only since I started working with Danielle that things have really started falling into place. It's one thing to feel authentic, but when you're in front of a camera or on a stage, it's very difficult to tap into that real authenticity and to get your message across the way that you want. |

Danielle helped me realize how important video is because I'd be doing something that is another way to connect to my audience. Something that the rest of the industry isn't necessarily doing. ~ Winona Reinsma
